Welcome to Feeding Ethan

Welcome to Feeding Ethan! Actually, I should be simply welcoming y’all back since it’s been five months to the day that I last posted over at Tastes Better With Friends. You’ll notice that site no longer exists and that’s for a variety of reason. Basically, I outgrew it and felt that it was time to write from a different place. Oh and that it got utterly hit hard with a horrible virus of some sort that it was never going to recover from! I couldn’t very well have you all getting “DO NOT CLICK” messages every time you visited me. That isn’t good for anyone!

There’s much to look forward to on the horizon

So what will Feeding Ethan be all about? Well, it’ll still be about food, but it’ll be more than just food. Feeding Ethan will be about stories and since my name is in there, I will be my own protagonist. As the tagline says, “A journey for the stomach and soul” and I want to share that with you. I’ve been online with a blog since September 2009 and I never envisioned meeting the people I’ve met, making the friends that I’ve had and receiving the accolades that have come my way. I’ve never been terrific at tooting my own horn, but I’m going to feel my way through and find that fine line between promoting myself, continue building my name within the food community without being too in your face about it. You know that line, right? Some are terrific at that balance while others could certainly take some time to reflect on where that line is.

Many ways to look at the world

This new space will allow me to continue this new path I’m on. I don’t know what or how it will play out, but I’m envisioning big life altering things happening because of it.

So, if you go looking for Tastes Better with Friends, you’ll end up here. Other than this change and the corresponding change to a new Facebook page for Feeding Ethan, pretty much everything else remains the same. Tastes Better With Friends was always too long for most profiles names, so the default was always EthanAdeland (easy choice) and I decided to keep it that way on Twitter, Google+, Pinterest and Instagram.

We’ll get into some food next post, but in case you were wondering where I’ve been for the last five months, here’s a little snapshot…

  • I’m still being a pretty bad Jew and eating bacon whenever it’s placed in front of me.
  • I’ve taken to busting out my “Big Boy” camera a little more often and not solely relying on my iPhone to take photos.
  • Food Bloggers of Canada recently turned 1 year old and Canada’s first ever food blogging conference for 2013 is well in the works.
  • I tried a ketchup flavoured potato tornado. I thought it’d be crispier for some reason.

  • Going on a ferry to one of BC’s many islands is something I should do a lot more of.
  • Wherever I can, I give dogs walking down the street a good scratch behind the ears. They seem to like it.

And a big shout-out to Melissa from Fine Lime Designs for my great new home. She took my poorly explained vision of a new design and turned it into what you see before you. And thank you to Dave of Dazil for turning Melissa’s design into one sleek mobile site. As someone who spends as much time as I do on my phone, I couldn’t envision this new blog not being mobile-friendly.

And now that Feeding Ethan is live, let’s celebrate as Kermit the Frog would “Yaaaaaaaaaaay!” See y’all soon.

Congratulations Ethan, the site looks great!

The ketchup flavoured potato tornado looks interesting, though perhaps a bit hard to eat! Crispy is better.

I look forward to the many stories to come!

And may we all be able to find that balance you mentioned.
