Let’s be honest, when you’re cooking for yourself, it’s often less than exciting. It’s tough to get all geared up to woo yourself night after night for dinner. One of the best feelings from cooking or baking is to have someone give you that instant approval with a “mmm” or some other variation of a bunch of “M’s” strung together.
However, let’s look at this from the glass-half full perspective, when you’re cooking for yourself, you have creative freedom to do whatever you want and no one will judge you. Your choice of 80′s music, your choice of alcohol, it ain’t so bad…sometimes. AND, if the dish is a disaster, you can move on and know one will ever know about your kitchen mishap.
But…if you have a food blog and you feel like sharing random bits and bites (ha, pun intended!) of your life, then why not divulge some of your less than brilliant ideas.
Well, if the title didn’t already give it away already…
I like bacon and I like corn on the cob so why not together? Maybe not the next PB & J, but you never know until your try. I was in the mood for both and as the bacon was sizzling in a pan and the corn was bubbling away in the pot, a greasy light-bulb went off in my head.
That’s right, who needs butter when you can pour/ladle hot bacon-y goodness right on your corn? I’m not going to lie, the corn (not surprisingly) tasted like bacon. I will admit though to feeling a little gluttonous, but with the crispy bacon strips to ease my pain and busting out to RUN-DMC in the background , I quickly forgot my guilt.
Was this better than corn on the cob with a shmear of butter and a little sprinkle of salt? No, definitely not. Would I be open to doing it again if I’m entertaining a bunch of bacon addicts who like a good dose of bacon fat and some great tunes? You bet!
